Zovirax is also known as Acyclovir Topical, which is used to treat cold sores (fever blisters, blisters that are caused by a virus called herpes simplex). These blisters usually form on the face or lips. Acyclovir is also used to treat first outbreaks of genital herpes. Zorvirax is in a class of medication called synthetic nucleoside analogues. It works by stopping the spread of herpes virus to other parts of the body. Zorvirax does not cure herpes but it does control the symptoms and prevent the spreading within your body.

Zorvirax is a topical cream that is used several times a day for 4 days. It is most effective when you use the cream when you start experiencing cold sore symptoms. Follow the instructions that your doctor or pharmacist give you. If you don’t understand any of the instructions ask your doctor or pharmacist for clarification. If you symptoms do not improve or they get worse contact your doctor immediately. Only use Zorivax cream on your skin, do not get it in your eyes, inside your mouth, nose, and do not swallow the medication. Do not apply the cream directly to genital herpes sores. Only apply to affected skin where the sore will appear.

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Zovirax ingredients, if you are pregnant, will become pregnant or are breast feeding. When taking Zorvirax you may experience side effects.
