Miacalcin Nasal (Cacitonin-salmon)


Miacalcin Nasal is a medication used to treat osteoporosis. It is usually prescribed about five years after menopause. Miacalcin Nasal uses the active ingredient Calcitonin which is a hormone that helps promote health bones. Miacalcin Nasal works by slowing calcium loss and helps maintain strong bones and reduces risks of breaking bones.

Tell your doctor if you are taking any other drugs or supplements as these may have adverse effects on you while you are taking Miacalcin Nasal. Tell your doctor if you have any other health conditions that require medication as well. Notify your doctor if you are allergic to any ingredients that are in Miacalcin Nasal, if you are allergic you may experience an allergic reaction.

Miacalcin Nasal, like most drugs, has some side effects to watch out for. Most of these side effects are not serious but if you experience any of them and they are severe or do not go away contact your doctor. Side effects may include:

  • Runny nose
  • Nose bleeds
  • Nasal irritation
  • Dry nose with crusting
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Flushing of the face
  • Back pain

Tell your doctor immediately about this following serious, but unlikely side effect

  • Nasal sores

Miacalcin Nasal may have similar side effects to that of Forsamax. Forsamax side effects may include:

  • nausea
  • stomach pain
  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • gas
  • bloating or fullness in the stomach
  • change in ability to taste food
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • swelling of the joints, hands, or legs

More serious side effects include:

  • new or worsening heartburn
  • difficulty swallowing
  • pain on swallowing
  • chest pain
  • bloody vomit or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
  • black, tarry, or bloody stools
  • fever
  • blisters or peeling skin
  • rash (may be made worse by sunlight)
  • itching
  • hives
  • swelling of eyes, face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • difficulty breathing
  • hoarseness
  • painful or swollen gums
  • loosening of the teeth
  • numbness or heavy feeling in the jaw
  • poor healing of the jaw
  • eye pain
  • dull, aching pain in the hips, groin, or thighs
