Frisium is a medication used to treat seizures and is available in many countries outside of the United States.  The generic name of Frisium is clobazam. Frisium is a drug in the class called benzodiazepines. It falls into the same category as Klonopin and Valium. Frisium is approved for use in almost all countries except the United States of America.

Frisium should be used exactly as your doctor directs or as your prescription label says. If you have questions about how to take Frisium you should ask your doctor or pharmacist. The appearance of Frisium will vary from country to country.  A generic type of medication with the main ingredient is also available but varies by country.

Do not suddenly stop taking Frisium. Talk to your doctor before you do, as he will most likely gradually decrease your dosage.  If you suddenly stop taking Frisium you may experience withdrawal symptoms which include:

  • drowsiness
  • dizziness
  • poor coordination
  • drooling
  • restlessness or aggressiveness

Do not take Frisium if you are allergic to clobazam. Tell your doctor if you become pregnant or are expecting to become pregnant. Tell your doctor of all your supplements and other medications that you are taking as they may adversely affect Frisium.  Frisium has caused some side effects in clinical studies, if these side effects do not go away or become severe contact your doctor. Side effects include:

  • Ataxia
  • Somnolence
  • Diplopia
  • Dysarthria

The following side effects are rare but are serious, if you encounter any of these side effects contact your doctor immediately:

  • Gelastic Seizures

  • Rashes.

Frisium may have similar side effects to Lamictal. Lamictal side effects include:

  • blurred vision

More serious side effects that should cause attention by your physician are uncommon but do happen. Serious side effects caused by Lamictal are:

  • seizures that happen more often, last longer, or are different than the seizures you had in the past
