Cordyceps


Cordyceps is a type of fungus or mushroom as many would call it. It is also known as the caterpillar fungus. This is considered a medicinal mushroom in many oriental medicines, especially among traditional Chinese medicines and Tibetan medicines.  Cordyceps works by attacking a host and eventually replaces the host tissue. Cordycpes have been known to treat cancers for thousands of years. The extracts of this fungus show great anticancer abilities by various mechanisms like, modulating the immune system. There have been many tests done in mice that have shown to protect bone marrow and their digestive system. It has also shown that Cordyceps may protect the liver from damage and it has shown to have an anti-depressant effect. Researchers also have found that Cordyceps has a hypoglycemic effect and beneficial to people with certain conditions due to diabetes.

Cordyceps has many health benefits to those who use it. It is a great tool to help you with all around health and fitness. It has shown to help people who are dieting and it has been shown to be effective in those situations as well. Taking Cordyceps may cause some side effects. These are generally not serious; however, if you are concerned by the side effects that you are experiencing call your doctor. You should consult with your doctor before taking Cordyceps if you are pregnant or going to become pregnant or breast feeding. Side effects may include:

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Mild GI discomfort
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea.
