Antacids

Antacids are a type of medicine used to neutralize the reactions in the stomach. The medicine increases the ph level in the stomach in order to reduce the acidity. In other words; antacids, like the medication nexium, are used to treat heartburn. The medication antacids are taken by the mouth.

There are four different types of antacids and each of them comes with different perks and side effects. The four types of antacids are: sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, aluminum compound, and magnesium compound.

The sodium bicarbonate antacids provide quick relief and use baking soda as the main ingredient. Because it is high in sodium those who take this antacid with high blood pressure could be at risk. Some other side effects that come with this type of antacid include: heart failure, increase in urinary tract infections, and a disruption of the mineral balance in your body.

This antacid increases calcium intake therefore it may result in kidney stone formation or kidney function disruption.

The next type of antacid is called the aluminum compound type. The aluminum compound is a slower in providing relief. The side effects of this type could include constipation, and body mineral reserve depletion.
